Be aware that while the Internet is helpful in many respects, it           can also be hostile!
       Resist the thought that you can get something for           nothing.
       Learn to differentiate between pop-up notifications that are           legitimate from the ones that are not.
       Use an internet browser with a pop-up blocker other than          Internet Explorer, AOL or NetZero.
       Don’t use a mainstream chat program such as AIM, MSN          Messenger, Yahoo etc, use an alternative.
       Disable “File Sharing” in your chat program and don’t enable it          for anyone.
       Update your virus software. Some of the more recent versions          have spyware scanning built-in.
       Purchase and install a dedicated spyware blocker.
       Keep Windows up to date and use a firewall.
